    Turn signals not working?

The turn signals on my 1981 GS450E have decided to pack up!
    It started slowly...
Firstly they would cut out when taking a corner and the bike is tilted at an angle.
Then, after about 3 weeks, they stopped working - only working when I leaned the bike to the side.

Now they've decided to stop all together!
When I flick the turn signal switch the relay under the side cover clicks (As I assume it should).

Any advice? At the moment I have the fueltank and entire engine block out of the way so I thought Id try get to the bottom of the turn signal problem!

Any help would be welcome! Thanks!

First thought would be a loose connection somewhere.

Yes - I thought that too.

The relay is still clicking closed when the switch is turned on, does that mean that the faulty connection would be towards the rear of the bike?

Just a thought. And does anyone know where to find the flasher unit for the turn signals on a GS450???

Have you already tried bikebandit? that's where i ordered the relay for my 850. It was $40.

z1 enterprises might have it, too.

          Hi Mr. TheSilencer,

Please visit my little BikeCliff website and read what I did when my turn signals quit working. It might give you an idea that will help.

          Thank you for your indulgence,

Thanks for all the info and advice - It turned out to be the flasher unit.
Replaced that and all is working as good as new!
