    79GS550E No start after crash

    1979 GS550E

This bike was being ridden and unfortunatly was low sided. The bike will crank over but not start.

Checked the carbs and they are getting gas. Used Quick start spray and it fired up but didn't keep going on gas. New plugs didn't help.

I'm thinking carb problem ?? If it runs on quick start electrics are good ??

    Any help appreciated.

Carbs are getting gas. When I removed them to check setup they had lots of gas.

There was gas in them, but was gas FLOWING to them?
There may not have been enough in them to fire the engine.
It points to a fuel problem because when you sprayed starting fluid in it the engine fired.

Which side did it go down on?
If it went down on the right side is there any damage or displacement of the end cover on the engine, that is where the ignition pickup / points are.
On your 79 which is a points system the crank extension may have taken a hit. This can affect the timing and make it resistant to running.
