    Aftermarket stator quality

    I need a new stator for my 83 1100ES.
How do the stators from Rmstator and Electrosport compare?
    Is there any real difference?

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Can only speak for Electrosport....

Bought one from them, something went bad in a year, but could have been failed Reg that pulled too much current or something....customer service was A++++.

      Hi Mr. billp,

I've had both on my bike.

The existing stator went bad a few months after I bought my bike. Replaced it with a RMStator unit. Ran great for a few months until it stopped charging. I RMA'd it back to RMStator and they replaced it, no problem.

I couldn't be without my (only) bike so I ordered another from Electrosport. It's on the bike now and working fine. I keep the RMStator part as a spare.

About the only difference I noticed is that the wires on the Electrosport part were shorter. Luckily, I was able to route the r/r wires so that I could make the connections.

There's also Rick's Electrics. They're a little pricer. I've never tried one of their parts.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

      BassCliff

        rm stator

Hi, I have an 82 gs650g which had a bad stator and RR, I got replacements for both from RM stator just last week. My battery is charging now, but it is still below the factory specs, it doesn't get over 14 volts at the battery ever, reved it up to 6000 rpms and still about 13.7 or so. This should keep the battery charged well enough, but the manual says it should be between 14 and 15.5 volts. I've heard that this is not totally uncommon, I don't think the parts are bad. I thought they were the exact same parts, from Electrosports or RM stator... not sure, but it looked like they used the same pictures of the Electrosports units on ebay where I bought them from RM stator.

ricks 1 year warranty on a rewind. fantastic!! less than 200.00 shipped

I have many on the road out of the shop here.

remember this a motorcycle charging system is NOT designed to charge the battery to a full state of charge. only cover the dynamic load with a little reserve electricity left over.

volts do not charge the battery!! Ampres do!!.

so first do a total ampre draw test and then record the amps at 6000 rpm there is the info you are needing to analyze.

Can only speak to Electrosport. It's been in place for about 18 mo. (about 10K) No problems.

Well thanks for the input, I ordered a stator from Electrosport, $130. shipped. It comes with a 1 year warranty. More than Suzuki ever offered.
Eliminating the excess wiring and connectors along with a good ground for the R/R goes a long way towards getting good voltage.

                Regards,
                Bill
