    GS1150 oil pans, painted ?

So, I am cleaning on my recent find. I pull the exhaust to have more access for cleaning and I noticed the oil pan was NOT painted. All the engines were black on the 1150's. I have been told by a good source that the oil pans were not painted on the 1150's. Is this true ? Does anyone have any insight on this ? This same source also said that on the 1983 GS1100's Suzuki did the same thing ?? Anyone know anything about this?
    Thanks.

I have four 1150 motors, two in the bikes, two on the bench. All oil pans unpainted.

Thanks greg and ray, that clears that up. I was thinking someone had been in there but with this info probably not. And that is a good thing.
