    Changing bulbs in instrument cluster

    I have a '78 GS750 with a bulb out in the speedometer.

My Clymer's does not address how to change this. Before I get into taking apart the cluster, how is the bulb changed? Is it a common bulb I can get at the auto parts store?

    TIA,

    Bill.

on my gauges it is only a matter of taking off the back-plate (held on by two nuts) and the bulbs are easily accessed
the bulbs should be available at the auto-store (they are here)

I have the same bike and it was surprisingly easy. I ended up shopping around the auto parts stores, found all the bulbs I needed and replaced a handful of them. About a 1 beer job. Course if all are the same age, you might want to replace all and not have to do it again. Better get 2 beers.

I believe they're usually 3.4 watt bulbs. When I had one burn out, I put in a 4 watt bulb and it's nice and bright (but not too bright!). The ones I bought are Sylvania brand and come in a 2-pack.
