GS750E wheel vs. GS1100E wheel

I searched on both of these models looking for wheel width info but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I believe my '82 GS750E rear wheel is 2.15" wide, but I couldn't find the wheel width for a 1981 GS1100E to compare it to.

My first guess would be that they're the same but since I didn't have a caliper big enough to measure I couldn't tell for sure. When I used my hand to gauge the distance I would swear that GS1100E wheel was a tad wider.

Anyone know the specs on these wheels?

Also, I'm under the impression that these would both be tube wheels but when exactly did Suzuki switch to tubeless?

Regarding the tubes, my 81' 650 is tubeless, so it's a safe bet they are tubeless on all of the models... I could be wrong tho.

According to the parts manual the 1982 GS1100E has a 2.50" rear wheel. I suspect the '81 is the same.

'82 750E takes a 2.15" rear as you noted (again, according to the parts manual).

Generally, they will be marked "Tubeless Applicable" or whatever it says, cant remember. Some of the early cast wheels were NOT tubeless, tho some people use them that way.

the rim size is cast into the rim. it should be on the right side just next to the valve stem hole.

I went back to look at it again, the size is cast in to the rim. I had looked before when I thought it was larger, don't know how I missed it.

Neither wheels ('81 or '82) are marked tubeless, and the parts manual shows / lists tubes for both these applications. I believe my 82 is sans tubes and the front wheel on the 1100E is without a tube as well.

Anyhow, thanks for the help on this trivial issue.
