Or should I just stay with the older style green 3 ohm coils like those listed on the Z1 Enterprises website? I have a minor idle issue happening and was starting to second my old stock units, they're fine though, but I guess it's time they got replaced anyway.

Dyna Coils Info???
Has anyone used or know about this style Dyna coils? I'm probably going to swap out my old stock coils this winter and was wondering if anyone has tried these. I would be ordering the DC1-2 model which is the 3 ohm to go with my DynaIII ignition.
Or should I just stay with the older style green 3 ohm coils like those listed on the Z1 Enterprises website? I bought a set of Dynas years ago and one crapped out after only a year or two. Since then I just check Ebay fro newer GSXR, Bandit, or Katana coils. No need to get nasty over calling the newer Kat models here in the US a Kat. If Suzuki chooses to call it a Kat here then it's a Kat. Since about 2000 the GSXR has used individual coils built into the plug caps so those are out. I believe the other two still use the standard coils. You can usually pick them up on Ebay for $30 or so.

Ray, I respect your opinion on such things however, I've had two sets of green 3 ohm coils go bad over the years and the set of Dyna mini coils I have now have worked well for 20K miles and they fit the 1100 frame without needing to build a bracket. Plus they have a much better water tight connection for the spark plug leads and the input wires.
Personally I'd buy used GSXR coils or Dyna mini coils before I bought the green ones again. It would be one thing if they were cheap enough to be disposable but for the price you can have the green ones.
Also I doubt the coils are the source of your idle problems.

I had one fail after about 12.5 months. They replaced it though.
I've read that about the mini's & the Dyna S... not sure why though, surely a 3 ohm coil is a 3 ohm coil....

Take a look at Accel Super Coils. Had them on my '82 1100E for five years with no problems. Plug gap is .035 instead of stock .028, which may give you an idea of the jump in power.

why not use the accel coils with the dyna ignition, thats what i used on my gs1100e and on my kz900, both applications work very well.

My $.02 worth on the Accel Super Coils. I had a set go bad in less than 8K miles. Maybe 2 years running on the bike. Thought the problem was related to the carbs and drove myself insane before moving on to another bike. This time, they completely shut down as soon as they got hot, which is how I focused in on them. Couldn't believe it. BOTH coils had low ohm's on primary and secondary. Maybe it's just the typical black cloud that I live under and I bought "the bad pair" that came off the line that day but I switched over to the green Dyna 3 ohm coils and haven't looked back since.
Something to consider at least.
And yeah, the Dyna mini's were really designed for the Dyna 2000.
