    Loose Hose?

    Hello,

I'm new to the gs resources website, and love it. I just purchased an 83 GS650L, and brought it home. Got it running and it works well, however i found a hose that is only connected to something on one end, and I have no idea where the other end goes. It looks to me as if the hose is connected to a little mini type tank under the seat, and it looks like it was leaking gas. At least I thought it smelled like gas. Does anybody have any ideas where this hose might go? Thanks in advance

    air box

That plastic tank thing under the seat/gas tank is probably your air box. The hose from it should hang straight down and it's just a drain. You might smell gas through it but gas shouldn't be leaking out of it. If gas is leaking out of it you need to check your petcock and make sure it's not flowing continuously. Check your air filter. Does it smell strongly of gas?

The little mini tank sounds like your airbox. If the hose you are talking about is near the top of that box, then its a breather hose that connects straight over to the top of the engine. You should see a short metal "barbed pipe" coming from the top of the valve cover, pointing straight at the air box.

      or

If it's on the bottom of the air box, it's a drain hose that just hangs down & doesn't connect to anything...

      good luck,

Could be the breather hose too.

Thanks, Ill check the air filter and the petcock. I just wasnt sure if the hose should have been loose or not, but now it makes sense.
