I understand that a BU810 is a good replacement for the 2SD977. It has a TO220 case, and is called a "darlington pair" type transistor and can handle slightly higher current than the D977.

I have just buzzed out my igniter schematic and still need some values for the diodes and zeners without actually removing them.
The schematic in beta untested format is available for sharing as soon as I have the other details. I also still need to find equivalents for the 2sc945 and 2sc1213 transistors.

Just a word of caution, the components in the non potted ones are covered in a very thin wax like protection. If you clean this off and fit it on the bike you may have a failure due to water etc. This also needs to be renewed after you replace any parts.
