78550 update, fixes, and new settings
After struggling with flat spot issues, weak spark, overconsumption of fuel, etc. I went ape and went through the entire bike again and fixed everything again. Now the bike is running better than ever. I guess the first go around fixes were'nt enough so here it is. Intake boots sealed. Airbox boots tight. All negatives cleaned grounded nicely. Replaced corroded connecters on battery, pos and neg. Reconfigured power source to DYNA S. Checked all voltage to coils w less than one volt drop loss from connecters. Reduced aomount of connecters to coils and Dyna. New Ignition swich (key switch) not kill. I opted to do these things instead of the coil mod which I feel is unneccesary at the moment.

The stock size on a vm carb 550 is 80. Stock size on a CV carb 550 is 90? 92? I think. Someone replied to me in a old thread, they were using a 100 in their 550. So I got 102.5 for my 78550 vm. And 110 for my 79 cv bike. I used the jet chart on jetsrus.com. I put in the 102.5 today and the bike pulls hard to redline. I figure if the color from the chop testing is right then it is not too lean for the 4-1.

I did the relay mod on my 850, BUT I used the relay to power the Fuse panel, turned on the relay by ign switch. Glad that you got it fixed. Sometime it does not pay to take shortcuts...
