    Alternator in oil.

    Why are there a lot of oil in the alternator housing on my GS1100 -82 ?
    Are there correct ? and if, why ? Electrical parts and oil does not sound right for me. Anyone that have a gooooood explanation ?????????

    The oil is meant to cool the stator.

      I'm not 100% certain, but I believe it helps to cool the engine.

        The oil is supposed to be there to cool the stator/alternator.
        If there is no oil, then you should worry. :-)

          and a big reason to keep your oil topped up to the right level.
