    Carb kits

Does anyone have a recommendation on a carb kit for a 81 450T?

Get an O-ring kit from cycleorings.com Also get the large O-rings that go on the rubber carb boots. This is all you should need other than maybe some floatbowl gaskets.

Edit: just check cycleorings.com and did not see the 450 kit listed. Send Robert Barr an email asking about the kit. He posted some messages here saying he was working on the kit so maybe he just didn't get the website updated yet.

After rebuilding my carbs, following the carb rebuild papers, Nessism is correct. It'll be a lot less expensive as well. Carb kits contain an awful lot of parts that don't work on yours, so you pay alot for not much use. Remember to get the bowl drain plug o-rings as well as they're only a penny. If I remember right, it's about the same cost, $25, for all o-rings that are of good, gasoline compatible quality.

If you do indeed find that you need to replace something, post again. Many have extra parts they'll hook you up with. If they don't, then you'd be better off ordering that item from a reputable dealer.

***EDIT*** This link will get you to a good resource that includes rebuilding carbs and ordering the o-rings: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Maybe someday I'll learn to look this stuff up first. I bought the carb kit from a dealer and soon found out that I now need the o-ring kit. That's what I get for not checking out the forum before. However, until I bought my Suzuki, I did not know that this forum existed.

The kit doesn't have the O-rings?! Man, that's beyond the call of miserly!

Yeah, I have the 450 kit ready, for the 80-82 450's. It was a genuine PITA, and I absolutely despise messing with HTML, so I've been too lazy and busy to update the website.

$7.50 for the kit, shipped US. Intake O-rings -- check my website and divide by two, since you only need half a kit.

You'll have to Paypal me directly as I haven't updated the buttons yet. THAT might take a while. (Actually, it'll take a stretch of lousy weather. On a day like today, it's time to squeeze in a couple hundred more miles on the bike...)
and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"
