problems with front caliper
Just finished putting on a new tire and everything up front was a mess. Cleaned everything up put everything back together and now the front left caliper you can see the bottom part moving out when i hit the brakes. you can move it by hand. Took it back off and the horse shoe part that bolts to the bike seems to have a lot of slop in the holes where it slides on those pegs. Sorry I'm sure there a name for all these parts. Everything looks good except for that slop is there a way I can just buy that one piece? I pretty sure it wasn't like this until I worked on it because the pads are even as far as I can tell. So I don't know if you guy can think of something I've missed that would make it do that. I've done quite a few brake never on a bike. But still brakes are brakes and I don't have the normal left over screws or parts either so it's all on there.Tags: None

What bike and year? There are several different types of front calipers. The horse shoe is the front caliper mounting bracket (well it had to be didn't it).79 GS1000S

Slop between the pins and the caliper hanger is not good. You might want to clean all the grease out of the caliper hanger holes and have a close look to see if the anodizing is worn away inside the bores. Not sure if the caliper hangers are still available but I'm sure you can come up with some from ebay or here in the for sale forum. And don't forget to replace the pins as well if there is any wear.Ed
