advice on head gasket

6 months ago I installed a new (laminated type) Vesrah head gasket - then discovered that i had overlooked placing the separate sealing washers supplied with this kit in position over the oil feed holes - so i removed the head again to do so assuming that i would be able to reuse the head gasket - no good - even though the engine had not been started the gasket "stuck" to the head in places and had to be replaced. It had been installed dry and the head surface had been machined to clean up.

I bought and installed another with the rubber washers in place - no problems and no oil leaks to date.

The only problem i have had since is a rich plug reading #3 - traced it to the choke/enrichener plunger rod for this carb not closing fully when the lever was returned to the off position.
