GS400/GS500 conversion
Does anyone know if you can directly swap a '94 GS500 motor into a GS400 frame?Tags: None

Okay, congratulate me: I did a search for previous dicussions on the issue and found the distance between the exhaust ports makes the GS500 motor an unlikely candidate for the GS400 frame.

Suzuki changed the angle of the exhaust ports when they went from the 400/425 and moved to the 450. Not sure of the details but you can't just drop in the larger engine without doing some exhaust fab work. I'm sure the swap could be done, just don't expect it to be a bolt in kind of thing.Ed

I plan to mod my frame again. So these changes dont sound to rough. As long as the sump fits between the frame rails I'd be ok. I am not all that happy with how I modded so far. It all looks good and is solid, just boring. After I finished the frame I realized a series of "shoulda and coulda". Next time will be arched backbone, goosenecked and single down tube. Maybe even a drop seat arrangement. Would also work in the USD gixxer forks I have into the mix as well.
