    80 GS1100E petcock problem

My original petcok handle was broken off when I bought the bike. The replacement petcock dont come with this on them according the picture on the parts fische. Any ideas on a petcock I can use as a replacement or find an original petcok handle {the part that selects reserve, on etc}. I know I can use a Pingel but would prefer original

    Petcock

The original never had a handle (or a reserve). If you do a search, you'll find scads of information about the notorious 1980 petcock. Your choices are very limited because of the limited space and uncommon bolt spread.

Do you mean its correct with the slot that is in the plastic piece that you would use to turn the petcock on or to reserve with a screw driver ? Z1 Enterprises sells a Pingel and an adaptor plate for them, will that work OK ?

The only positions on your petcock are 'on' and 'prime' - there's no reserve on these taps. And yes, you turn it with a key or a screwdriver. Biggest POS Suzuki ever came up with. The Pingel (or similar) and adaptor plate are the way to go.

Thanks, youve been a big help. I was going to ask if the 81 petcock would fit, but I think Ill go with the Pingel for more money

It won't. Even if it would fit in the space you have (which it won't), the bolt spread isn't the same. The Pingels are very tight but, in the right postion, it will work. Do a search before you install it and you'll find information about cutting down the stand pipe. If you don't do that, your reserve won't be worth anything because you'll be on it with about half a tank left.

Do an advanced search for posts by me and type in the search word "completed". I outlined how to do it so your reserve will be worthwhile and I think you'll find it easy to understand. If not, you'll find plenty of help here.
