Aftermarket Air Valve
I recently found a set of 81 GS850L forks on e-bay and they had this top nut instead or the normal type air valve shown on the parts fiche. The top of it is stamped with Road Rider Touring Accessories LA California. I looked them up and they are an accessory company still in business. Is this top valve part of an aftermarket system to equalize the fork air pressure before the OEM models had a similar system? Ever seen one like this? Both valves/nuts are the same as the below pictures.

Don't take this the wrong way but those photos are horrible. Try again using your cameras macro feature.
Regarding the parts, yes, they were common aftermarket parts. There should be interconnection tubes and hardware to go along with the top nuts. What is your question?Ed
To measure is to know.

Nessism, no offense taken. My camera skills are cr*p. I was pretty sure that is what these caps were designed for but I have never seen this particular type. Of course the tubes and other hardware did not come with forks but since I do not run the air they are good for a spare set which is why I bought them.82 GS850L - The Original http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ePics067-1.jpg

I think it is both, the cap threads right in to the fork. I did not get the air lines with it but the two threaded holes look like they could take air lines.82 GS850L - The Original http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ePics067-1.jpg
