    Spark Plug Caps

This probably isn't the right place to post this. Does anybody know of an autoparts chain that actually carries spark plug caps (or boots I suppose) in store? Would a bike dealer usually carry them?

I've been to a couple of stores and they look at me like I have four heads when I ask if they have spark plug caps and then want to try to sell me a distributor cap or complete wire sets.

Z1 Enterprises sells NGK caps which are equal quality to the stock pieces. These caps are resistor type and are different from a common automotive type plug cap. You might be able to find them locally but it's going to have to be a cycle shop.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize there was a difference between bike and car caps

When I upgraded my coils to accel super coils, I switched to suppression core wire and plain spark plug boots. The oem wires are stranded copper and use a resistor type plug end. If you can't get the caps you can use suppression core wire it just depends on how the wires are attached to the coils. Some coils have integral wire so in order to replace them you will have to use splices to connect the wires.

My GS850 is wearing half of a set of Accel wires sold for a V-8 car engine:

I think they were in the clearance bin at Advance Auto or something.

They've been on my bike for at least four years -- I still have the other four wires somewhere. They work great with Dyna coils.

Anyway, back to the original question, you'll only find the caps at a cycle shop. If you want to purchase online, Z1 Enterprises sells them, as does Cycle Recycle II and Dennis Kirk.
Z1 Enterprises specializes in quality Motorcycle parts for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha Classic Japanese motorcycles from the 1970's and 1980's.

Thanks Lynn. I always wondered what angle spark plug caps we used on GSs. Now I know and have just ordered a full set from Z1. Although mine were 12mm and not 14mm plugs.

Thanks again. Very knowledgeable people here.

                      YIKES!

Mine only charged me $5.99 each. Yeah, at that price, I'd wait the few days for shipping.

                        Daylight robbery

                        You guys are lucky.
I just got a quote on some parts in the UK and they wanted £13.36 each for plug caps, thats $19.84 at todays rates.
Postage would have been extra, so well over $80 for all 4 of them.

Just checked Z1, and its $11.22 for all 4 including postage to UK.
I'll be ordering them begining of January

If you upgrade to Dyna coils you can use auto style wires
