    cluth cable

How do i replace the cluth cable on 1982 gs 850 L

    #2
It's very straightforward -- are you having trouble with something, or do you just need to know that it really is as easy as it looks?

Also, it's a good idea to buy a genuine Suzuki clutch cable -- only a buck or two more than aftermarket, and much higher quality.

Loosen the adjustment at the lever, then loosen the lower end, too. When the bottom end is loose enough, you can remove the barrel from the lever that pulls the clutch mechanism.

Installation is the reverse of these steps.

To adjust, screw the upper adjustment as far into the handle as possible. Remove virtually all of the slack by adjusting the lower end, then fine-tune at the top.

The 850 clutch cable has an adjustment in the middle. You might want to make the coarse adjustment there instead at the end adjusters which are better for fine tuning.

Needless to say, you need to remove the fuel tank before performing this work. If you don’t know how to remove the fuel tank, or are afraid to learn, sell the bike and take the bus.
