    What is it?

I came across this beast. It has an 82/83 speedo, (KM version) still has a 1994 Canada plate. It has 80/81 tank, side covers and tail. It has Raask rearsets and clip-ons. It looks like 83 stock pipes. I have to remove the fairing mount to get to the vin, (no title)... Has not run since 94. I had a 83 GS1100E back in 84 and this is sad to look at like this. The engine number is 1100X-125718, the sticker under the seat says GSX1100.
    Thanks for any help.

The bike is an 81 GS1100E. The rest of the stuff on it is just confusing! Ray.

Can tell by looking at the bike. Ray knows these bikes. Actually I thought it was an 80 GS1100E.

That thing is butt ugly. First thing I did was lose a big ugly Vetter fairing on my bike.
Calling it confusing was being nice.

What'd they call that, the Slipstream or something like that?

It's actually kinda cool in a weird sorta way. Craig Vetter did some pretty whacked chit back then.

I want the fairing if you don't. I just might have a great use for the thing. How much for it?

I don't dislike that fairing. Around my corner of the world it would extend riding comfort at both ends of the season considerably. Ideal would be an installation where you could pull it off when the weather warms up.

I think if the whole thing would be painted some other color it might look ok. The black with red pinstripes almost looks like it's trying to mimick a batbike of somesort.

                            What is it?

Tank, seat, front fender and tail section point to 80/81.
Front end has a leading axle, so it's 80 or 81 (82 and up had center axle).
GSX is international speak for 4 valve head, again, 80 or 81.
81 was the last year for chrome air box cover on 1100 E models.
Not sure if the 5 star wheel was available in 80 or not?
That fairing looks like it might be an Arai model - kinda rare, and required a head light swap from the original rectangular shape to round. And it begins to look like a Bimota...

                              What is it? (Again)

I took a close look at the exhaust. They look like 1983 pipes without the scuff shield (or heat shield if you prefer). The rear hanger is closer to the front of the last section of pipe than it is in the center. I bet the exhaust flanges on the outer pipes are also black.

If the rear hanger were more centered, they would have been Katana pipes (black collars were 83, aluminum were 82) and I would have offered to take them off your hands!
