i think the gold wheels and forks are pretty cool. i don't know much about 1100's but i hope you keep them. didn't they only have the forward front axle on L models?

If the rear hanger were more centered, they would have been Katana pipes (black collars were 83, aluminum were 82) and I would have offered to take them off your hands!
See if this pic helps, they do have rust. I will be removing the bracket for the fairing, then I will be able to see the vin and know what year it is.

Thanks everyone for all the help.

I like the fairing, don't care much for the red frame though. I bet it would look great with the right paint scheme.

It might get hot on your legs if you happened to get in "stop and go" traffic for a length of time. And being an air cooled engine, it would make me wonder how much it degrades the cooling properties of the engine.

Believe it or not, it might actually enhance cooling.

Without having a wind tunnel at my disposal, I would guess that some of the air that hits the front of the engine gets pushed sideways, away from the sides of the engine. This fairing might trap some of that air and keep it closer to the sides of the engine and might take just a little more heat with it. Sure, it will direct more of that warm air onto your legs, but that's the price you pay for a more-streamlined bike.

I don't think the shape of the fairing is that ugly, but the paint definitely needs to be changed. having something like that cutting the wind for you will add several miles per gallon to your efficiency. Also, cutting through the air more cleanly will add a little to top end speed. All depends on where your priorities lie.

I was thinking the paint (on the fairing, anyway) looked somehow reminiscent of a early 90's Katana 1100, the one with the red pinstripes on a black background.

I think the fairing is kinda cool in a funky sort of bald girl with orange eyeliner way.....

I never liked bald girls anyway. Even with orange eye-liner.

                        Thanks

Looks like I am going to part it, needs way too much work. Heres a better look at the fairing.

You have a ZX-14! Cool bike.
How long did it take you to learn how to ride it? Different experience isn't it.
                          Does the engine run?

Love the 14, it was a more comfortable ride than my Busa. I have been looking hard at the B-King.

Do you mean the GS1100 engine running? No, it has been sitting for years, it cranks and has spark but needs fresh gas and the carbs rebuilt. I may try it before pulling it out.

It is a pretty neat looking fairing with the twin roundies. If I wasn't building a Cooley, I'd consider it. Really depends what style you'd be going for. Just out of curiosity, what would you be looking for for it?
