Rachet Crimping Tool?

I would like to purchase a rachet style crimper that will produce identical OEM style crimps on the GS uninsulated bullet terminal connectors. I was doing some searching and found this crimper on a previous thread which goes for $35.

My original OEM style kit was made by Hero in Japan. Got it in 1988 I think. They were spendy but were well worth it because they work so well and are indentical to the connectors all the manufacturers used. Refills for the various terminals and insulators were high priced too but once again we paid for them and were glad. A huge improvement over the commonly available American style of crimp on terminals and connectors.

American butt connectors were still better though, the ones that came in the kit didn't work very well but we always soldered and shrink sleeved if possible anyway.

At the time one of my friends told me high end sound equipment used the same connectors, perhaps thats another place for you to look.

My crimper is a straight forward deal just like any other stripper/crimper you've seen except that the crimper jaws are shaped differently. Not sure why you would need a crimper that crimps both connections at the same time, we just crimped them one at a time with zero issues. Keep looking, I'm certain simpler and cheaper crimpers are out there.

Harbor Freight has one for $15. I've heard that it works fine, but I haven't tried it myself.

here is one for a bit cheaper.
radioshack has one, its ok but you need to crimp twice.

I use the original AMP Crimp tool and terminals. It was kinda spendy but not like what some specialty avionics crimpers are. I use it alot so a couple hundred bucks was justified. Ive seen some knock offs that would work just as well.

I'm using these from Harbor Freight and they seem pretty good to me although I've never really studied the crimps up close.

Keep an eye on Ebay. About 4 ~5 years ago I bought an excellent industrial quality ratchet crimper for .156 Molex connectors for $35 shipped. The list price was nearly $150.

I actually have a large AMP Crimper with long handles, don't know the Model number; I got it when manufacturing shut down. The crimp dies are correct but they are too wide for the uninsulated bullet connectors from Z-1 so the resulting crimp also contacts/crimps the wirestrain relief portion. I wonder if I could just replace the die set with a narrower set? There is a heck of lot of AMP Crimper models out there.

These seem like a good deal for the insulated terminals . . . I cannot tell from the picture but do they work on uninsulated bullet/spade connectors and produce that fold over style OEM crimp?
