Would any of you know if the fork tubes are the same for the gs850 and the gs1100 in 80?

Assuming you're talking about the chain-drive 1100E or 1100L, then yes, they're different. The fork tube diameter is the same, but many other details are different. (Since you said it was a 1980, I'm assuming it's not an 1100G/GL shaftie, since those came along in '82).
You'll also want to clarify whether you're talking about an 850G or 850GL, and what exactly you have in mind.
You may be able to transplant the entire fork/triples assembly just fine, but depending on what you want to do, the components may not transfer.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
