Honda speedometer drive speed
Has anyone ran a cycle speedometer from an electric drill motor? I'm trying to check a used speedo, from a Honda CB1100F. Don't know the exact rpm of the 3/8" Craftsman variable speed drill motor, but as fast as it will go is only 40mph. I really haven't a clue what it should be, but if that is correct, at 120 mph surely that little cable isn't going 3 times faster than my drill motor, or is it???1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. Is your drill a cordless model? If so, some of them are only about 400 rpm. I know my Makita is.
A corded drill will turn in the 1000-1200 rpm range, if you need to go faster.sigpic

I'll often do a quick test on a speedo like this and about 40mph is what I get as well. We must have similar speed drills - should be fine on the bike.79 GS1000S

Duhhh, to see how fast it's going. I found 1300rpm on the drill, tried it on the GS 1150 & KZ 1300, both show appx 40mph. 120mph = 3900rpm That little cable is gettin it. Guess the used speedo is OK.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100
