Carb refurb pics - 1980 GS1100ET

Some quick pics of the carbs I am rebuilding off the 1980 GS1100ET.. well.. actually I got a friend doing them for me in my garage. Free labor.. he he!

Before, just NASTY!


After soaking in the Chemdip, scrubbing with various brushes and a lot of spray carb cleaner.. and finally a round
or 4 in the Ultrasonic cleaner, the carb bodys and parts look great.

Everyone should consider getting one of these. Unreal how is cleans. Harbor freight has them for dirt cheap... like $60.
I used a cleaning powder you mix into water call Alconox. Amazing!

Oooh, nice results with that ultrasonic cleaner. Would love to see that 1100 too. Any chance I could dip my valve cover and case covers in that machine?

Sadly, I just don't think it's big enough for those parts. Here is another picture for reference.



You are welcome to come see the crusty old pile and put anything that will fit in the ultrasonic cleaner. PM me. It seems to do only an OK job on rust after a few passes. It kicked the sh!t out of the grime on screws, springs, brackets and the carb bodys, caps and float bowls though. I will be ultrasonic cleaning parts that fit as often as I need to. Best $60 I spent in a long time. Shower heads, soap dishes, Jewelry... man.. anything I can think to put in there is going.

And rememeber the drilling is only to open that hole a smidge for purposes of screwing a screw in there and pullin the plug out, not trying to use a drill only..
