Identify this part please

I need some help with this part, What is it and where does it attach to. The model is an 82 1100g. Bought the bike in a tear down state, now reassembling and this part I do not recognize from past exp. of rebuilding other types of GS's Thanks, bmac

It looks like a carb shield or cover that goes between number 1 and number 2 carb. Not sure of its purpose, maybe to prevent a cable from interfering with throttle plates?

Very good!!!!!! Carbs were seperated and off the rack. Had clutch cable holder for the carbs from another rack and installed that after I had o'hauled the carbs and reassembled them. So I am wondering if I install that sheild would I still need the cable holder? Thanks, bmac
