    Rubber flanges

    1982 gs 650e
i got the bike from a friend for free and am trying to fix it up. i need 4 rubber flanges and do not know where to get them

also should i keep the stock airbox or get the k&n.
( i am missing two rubber connectors for the stock airbox)

any other helpful suggestions on repairing and making this bike as fast as it can go would be greatly appreciated.

If you use the search function you will find lots of recommendations for part vendors.

For stock parts flatoutmotorcycles.com is the cheapest and bikebandit.com seems to have the best service. I'd go with Flat Out if you are not in a big hurry. Both the parts you mentioned are still available.

I will try the first mentioned site for the parts but bike bandit does not have the required parts unless another year will fit mine, but 1982 is not there.

I have spent countless hours trying to find parts for my bike but will continue to do whatever i can..
      thanks for the info

Always a tough call, going on 2 weeks on my last flatout order (valve seats) that would have been here in a week from Bike Bandit, but probably 10% to 15% cheaoer.

I hope you mean valve stem seals.

I found a similar issue with BikeBandit, however if you go to

they have the fiche for the 650E. If you then take their part numbers you can type them into the search on BikeBandit and find them there, as well as what bikes share the same part. You will find that the 550T and 650E share a fair amount of parts in common (good for me)

Anyway, I would stick with the stock airbox, the rubber is typically only a couple of bucks from any of the suppliers (even your local suzuki stealership), but the amount of headache from re-jetting for pods is worth it (to many on here anyway).

I would say look around for a drop in K&N replacement filter that takes the place of the standard OEM filter and holder, slipps right in and no re-jetting needed.

That being said, if you can't find one cheap (I picked up a pair on ebay through the years for like $25 each if I recall) and are missing the stock air-filter element/cage let me know I have 2 of them that will just need foam added to get working. I'll let either of them go cheap, and you can then just keep an eye out for a drop in K&N on fleabay and get it when it comes available.

ps. Enjoy the bike, once you get it running, I think you'll find it plenty fast.. I know I'll probably miss the power when I sell mine, however the 550 is a whole lot nicer bike all around...

                O and hi to everyone
                Welcome !!
My best suggestion is to go to the link below.....and read the Greeting-Basic Info and vendors list.

BassCliff (BikeCliff) would normally point you to his fantastic "little" site. I guess he's taking the day off, working to hard or playing in the California sunshine.

                  Probably making a terminology error....

The removeable metal piece that goes UNDER the valve spring (not the retainer that goes on top).

re-read my post, not THE valve seat (of course), the valve SPRING seat.

They send everything requiring a signature. Good idea to have proof it was received but a PITA for people who have it sent to their home and aren't there to sign for it. Luckily for me the UPS depot is only about 5-6 miles away and on my way home from work.

also the bike is very hard to push forward or backward when trying to move it for whatever reason.

                          any ideas?

Assuming it's in neutral (heh)... brakes binding perhaps? I forgot to look at the OP again, but if this bike has sat or is in basically unknown condition, pulling the calipers apart and maybe rebuilding would be high on my priority list.

Check clutch drag but if it does it in neutral, check the rear brakes. The brake pedal goes through the frame and water causes it to rust. I parted out a 750 that had a locked brake pedal, it forced the rear pads into the rotors and ruined the parts.
