Another carb question
Are the early GSXR CV flat slides any better performancewise than the round slide CVs from the GS? I have a chance at a set of GSXR750 34mm flatslides for cheap. I know you don't get the full advantage of non-cv carbs, but any better?Tags: None

Go for it. You need to get some K&Ns for them since you won't be able to use the airbox.
They will be fun to jet but you'll have better bottom end.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

The jets may well fit but i doubt very much that they will be the correct size to have it running sweet & i'm unsure about the needles
Having said all that the swap is well worth taking the time to do

The K&Ns won't fit. The ones that do double up and there are only two of them.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

That set wound up going higher than I wanted to pay, but they are everywhere for 150.00, so If I'm patient I bet I can find a set for $100.00 over the next month or two unless something better falls in my lap. I saw how available they are and wanted to make sure it was an upgrade worth doing. I have a set of CV roundslides on the bike and a spare set of CV roundslides with one damaged body (broken float pin post) so if I find a set should be able to sell off some old carbs and basically have them for free.
