cool thank you guys now all that matters is how many miles and the right side of the bike.

It kinda looks like the guy has some wierd fabricated exhaust on there.

Miles don't matter, it's an 850 they run forever.
It's not that good of a deal, an L with some mismatched parts, hasn't run in years, it will need a lot of work, check the date on the tires, carbs will need to be gone through again if it has been three years, pretty much have to check everything....
And once you do all that it's still an L.

Talk him down if you decide to go for it.

Ot's an OK deal, but not great. For a bike that hasn't run in 3 years. Bad news is you can't start it up to see what else might be wrong with it. Offer $500, tops. You have an "L" tail light, probably the seat is, too, but since he didn't include it in the picture you can't really tell 'till you get there. A "GX" seat won't fit right. But the handlebars are not from an "L", I don't think. Hard to tell for sure in the pic, but it doesn't look right to me.

I'd go for less. It's got a lot of question marks.

I'd say grabbit for $400 to $500 or so if the exhaust is somewhat functional (not some open-piped hillbilly thing). It's the middle of an ugly winter and you have at least $400 to $500 or so more to spend on it plus some time and lovin' before it's fit for the road.

The "new tires" bit made me LOL. I don't think those evil ribbed monstrosities have been made since the '80s. It will DEFINITELY need new rubber.

Not sure why the seller thinks the Amsoil or new plugs (from Dennis Kirk! Woo!) would make this worth more somehow, or why there are Harley pipes in the same ad. I mean, crackList is free, so just throw up another ad. Yeesh.

                        Heh.

No, I'm reasonably happily married, but there are elements of a struggle to the death sometimes, or at least an element of grim certainty.

Marge wants me to get an FJR1300, so she definitely has plenty of good points.

Man, I need a new sig.

OK, back to your regularly scheduled CrackList dissection.

First off thank you all for posting you are quite a quick bunch.

                              1.why does the L suck?
2.is there a link describing the 850 and body parts and such?
3.I kinda like the all black, yeah the tires are at least 3 years old but that is to be determined once I see them. cause ya know some companys make classic style tires.
4.I was gunna offer $500 but maybe I should offer $450?

And its the guys kids and the kid (who is seemingly in his late 20's to early 30's) just left it at his dads after a divorse, and it ran up till he left it there. and i dont care about the carb rebuild thats a sinch. does it have teh bs32's or bs34's I thought they had the 32's

Handle bars=swapped from something else or bought from dennisk kirk.
See here in minnesota Dennis kirk is only 1hr away from this guys house or mine.

i am gunna check in out on sat morning if these questions are answere by then that would be sweet so i could know a bit more about the 850 and this one.

                              Thank you
                              Jake
