    85 550L bar question

I have an 85 550L and I am looking to swap the handlebars out on it, and I want to make sure that what i want will fit. I am looking at the daytona bars or superbikes, leaning more towards the daytonas since I have some occasional shoulder pain. I know drag bars won't fit the L due to tank clearance, and I was wondering if anyone has put a set of superbikes or daytonas on an L, or just if anyone knows if they will fit correctly. Thanks in advance.

I haven't done it, but be aware you'll probably end up with cables too long if you go to lower bars. You might be able to deal with the slack through careful routing, but maybe not.

Easiest way to tell would be to visit your local wreckers and grab a bunch of bars that look close to what you want. You'll be able to buy them for cheap, and can try them all out to find something that suits.

If you have to start replacing hoses and cables, it might get a bit aggravating.

The cables from a 550M (Katana) work well since they are shorter. New cables are much smoother than old worn cables anyway so it's a double upgrade.

The 380T bars I put on are a little taller than Daytona bars and I was able to use my factory cables.

Now, after a few rides, if I like my new set up, I will be ordering shorter cables.

            I used "T" bars on my 850 L:

Zeevo, here is a previous thread on replacement bars. I am not sure about the guage cluster on your bike but on mine the Daytonas were the least rise bars I could fit without having the M/C banjo bolt too close to the guage cluster. You might have to either replace or re-route your cables.
