    Case guard pics please.

Can anyone put up a pic or point me to a pic of the case guards on an 83 (and or up) 750 ? Would those on an 1150 be the same?

I'm not having anyluck finding any and I'm getting antsy to do some fiddling so I thought I might fab up something. The pics would be for reference.

As always, I appreciate any assistance.

    cheers,
    Spyug.

About as "close in" a pictures as I may have showing case guards (this is 850G).

The top and bottom (can see bottom somewhat) attatch where engine is mounted to frame. The middle point attatches to frame alone.

Note: If you saw the pictures dpep posted this past summer of a big long sliver scratch in a road; That big long scratch was made with these case savers pictured above, and these cases were saved. So, yah, having case savers is a good idea.

Hi SPYUG. Have a look at these. They are off a 550 and will be different than the ones to go on your frame, but they may give you some ideas. These ones only have two attachment points to the frame whereas the ones on the other 850 pictured have three. The middle strut on mine runs in line with the frame whereas on the 850 it runs across the frame.

Excuse all the debris around the frame and on the ground. I am preparing the frame for painting.

Andy, my guards for the 78 1000 are the same 2 point attachment as Don's 550. My buddy's 77 750 is the 3 point. I could take some measurements for you. Could even do you up a technical drawing if you wanted to go to a fab shop.

Thanks very much guys. Appreciate all the input. It helps a bunch

I've been thinking about how to do this and I think I'm going to have a little trouble trying to do it with tube as the bends are fairly tight and I don't have a bender. I talked to a couple of muffler shops but their not interested. Maybe I can talk my buddy into going halves on one of the manual benders from Princess Auto as our birthdays come up at the end of the month and we've given each other enough Scotch over the years.

I think I can do something in mild steel rod or steel strap which could be heated and bent in a vice ( with the aid of my big persuader). Not as nice as shiny tubular ones but I'm going for function over form . They'd be painted black to match the frame anyway.

I was lying in bed thinking about it this morning and kicked myself as I realised I had a bunch of prebent tubing from some exercise equipment that I took to the dump about 2 months back. I likely could have done something with that.

Well I'll keep thinking on it. In the meanwhile if anyone finds a pair....please let me know.

            Cheers all,
            Spyug

I'll get you some pics of the guards on my '85 700E this weekend. I can take measurements for you as well if needed. They are exactly the same as what you would put on your 750, the package said "fits '83-'86 GS750E/ES, and '85 GS700E/ES".

There were some OEM Suzuki ones on ebay a while back. They were thick aluminum extrusions and said Suzuki on them. I thought them interesting, but in all likelihood a one-shot deal.

I agree. The ones I've seen for the GS1000 are over $100.00

                      Thanks Griffin and guys.

I am trying to contact them now to see if they will ship USPS. If it goes by courier the price goes up about 3 fold. The shipper charges a brokerage fee to cross the border around $45 and our customs will get their hands on it for another $30 or $40. If they can ship USPS there won't be the "bogus" brokerage fee and often it slides by customs.

If they can't do it I'll pass.

                      I'll let you know.

                      Thanks again everyone.

Griffin, I take it back. You not da man. You da parts guys pimp?

Now I have to empty the piggy bank and dig into my sock drawer. B'day doesn't come 'til the end of the month

Maybe I can sell some of my blood or a kidney in the meanwhile. This bike fixin up gets pricey don't it.

Well I could spend the money on food or the mortgage or taxes but what would be the fun in that.

Thanks again man you do have the eagle eye.

                            Cheers,

Maybe there's a plasma service store near you. I knew lots of guys in the US Marines and US Navy who would donate plasma every two months or whatever the minimum time was and pocket a tidy $125 for it.
