    Cylinder intake boot torque spec

Chaps, can anyone tell me what the torque spec is for the cylinder intake boots. I've replaced the o-rings and can't seem to track down how much torque to use refitting them, I remember it's something like 75in/lbs but not exactly sure.

Machine is a 1982 GS1100GL if that makes a difference.

    Thanks.
It's smoke that make electronic components work.
Every time I've let the smoke out by mistake, they never work again.

I have never torqued these up - 'snug - tight' has always worked for me.

well maybe I'm mistaken. When I did my 850, I thought I found a spec somewhere that talked about not tightening too much otherwise the life of the new o-rings is shortened. I thought that was on the notes that came with the o-ring kit but again I'm not sure.

Snug 'em up it is then...

6-7 foot-pounds, same as any other 6mm bolt. I just tighten them by hand.

The groove in the intake boot provides the necessary clearance for the o-ring.

Thanks Brian. Did them to 75in/lbs which is right in range of what you quote. Always nice to know I guessed right in the end.

She fired up first crank when I got everything back together and primed. The crud I found in carb #1 and #4 was unbelievable.

Took it for a test ride after I'd done the setup, BLIMEY, does this thing move now.

Thanks to all those that have helped, think I'm going to enjoy this machine. Wonder if she'll be able to hang on
