Basket 83 1100 GL

This site has been a big help.....trying to put together an 83 1100 GL from a parts basket..........having trouble with the white 4 pin connector on fuse panel......What connects to the bottom of it.....Everything seems to lead to the regulator and or stator?
Also can someone tell me what color of wire goes to the pos side of the coil and neg side for each coil? Have read the stator papers and the color wiring diagram ....83 seems to be a little different than earlier ones?

The colors on the connector suggest it goes to the ignitor, the blue and green come from the pickups on the right side of the engine and trigger the coils.

On the coils you have 12 volts from an Orange stripped wire and the other two are 1-4 and 2-3 respectively. You might need to try it one way then reverse the wires to determine which is which,

My picture now I can see is not very good....The WHITE 4 pin connector has a RED wire that is hot to the fuse box and the other three look to match the regulator colors.....Should I make a plug from regulator to plug into bottom of the WHITE 4 pin connector?

That square white connector with the regulator wires can be trouble. Run the three wires that come from the stator (near the starter motor) directly to connectors on the Regulator. you may have to get male and female bullet connectors to make this happen. The run the red from the RR right to the fusebox, again you may need new bullet connectors. That white connector is famous for being a bad connection place.

That connector is not the one from the stator to the regulator.

That is what connects to the fuse panel. The constant-hot red wire feeds the main fuse (the fourth fuse from the top). The main fuse then feeds the ignition switch, which then sends power back to the top three fuses. The current that leaves those top three fuses, then goes through the other three wires in your white connector to power the rest of the bike.

Not to say that connector can't be a problem, but it's not the charging connector that duaneage thought it might be. Like all connectors, make sure it's clean and tight, then add a bit of dielectric grease to prevent problems.

OK........looks like i will just hook the 3 stator wires to the regulator and run the red to a fuse and run a good ground.......Thanks for the help......
