    Plug wire questions.

Does anyone know what the ohms across a coil should be?

Also, what should the ohms across a plug boot be? Is 11K too much?

Is there a way to replace plug wires without replacing coils? Maybe a splicer?

Finally, I'm guessing that just about any old jap bike coils would work?

There was a thread a while ago in which it showed grinding some of the plastic off the side of the coil so you could remove the plug wire from the coil. Some of the Suzuki coils of the early 80s had non-removable wires so you kind of had to butcher the casing to get the old wire out. But that being said some of the coils had replacable wires.

    **Hijack in progress**

Does anyone know for sure if the 83 750E coils had replacable wires?

    **Hijack completed**

Stock coils should read 3 - 5 ohmn across the primary side, 30 - 35 ohmn across the secondary.

A good upgrade is to get a pair of the "green" (5 ohmn) Dynatek coils, with a new set of wires/caps. Z1 is a good place for these...

The resistor caps should read about 5k ohms.

NGK makes a splice for installing new plug wires. They should sell them where you buy the resistor caps.
