    Back fire thru #1 carb

i am get a small back fire thru my carb especially when i just start the bike up. i know the rubber intake boot is cracked and is probally letting too much air into the air/gas mix cause it to back fire and low idel speed. i have gooed up the crack with rvt gasket seallent but it only seems to help for a little while. So besides from knowing that i have to buy new intake boots and o-rings what elese could be causeing my bike to back fire thru carb #1. i just wanted to get some other ideas that could cause it before i put a order in for the boots, if i needed any other parts. the carbs have been cleaned well recently.

    Thanks

No one has any other ideas or opinions on why it does this?

I think you already hit the nail on the head, Ryan. You say as soon as you patch the cracks with gasket sealant, it improves....(although only temporarily). Get the new boot(s), and o-rings

The leak can cause it to run too lean.

I saw this somewhere else on this board and someone mentioned the bike is running too lean. Maybe that will help you.

        Good luck
