plug wire and boots question
Has anyone ever replaced the plug boots AND wires without changing the coils? A buddy told me that he had bought a universal set from an auto parts store and attached them to his existing coils (his bike is not a gs). I'm wondering if anyone has done this to a gs and which wires they might have used.
thanks.Tags: None

Bottom line: the wires are attached to the coils and sometimes pull out and sometimes not. Some people dig them out with a pick. 7mm wires are required if you change them.
Good luckEd

Thanks. I just don't want to do irreparable damage if I do this. I'll search the forum. Thanks again.

yes, i did it with great success. i put a little heat shrink around the end of the wire that inserts into the coil to snug up the fit, and glued them in with some red silicone. worked a treat. i did have to CAREFULLY drill out one or 2 of the old wires, only had to drill a little then the stubs (that had broken off when i pulled them out) came free. no problems.1983 GS 1100 ESD :D
