    what grade are the motor mount bolts?

    Hi...what grade are the motor mount bolts...8.8 or 10.9?

    PS..not that it should matter but my bike is the 1981 GS1000L

    I dont know what grade stock one are, but if it were me, Id go have grade 8. That is structural grade hardware and can be found in metric and standard. Its a widely used grade so different materials and finishes will be available.

      Grade 8.8 and 10.9 are an ISO strength designation. Grade 5 and 8 are SAE.

      The Suzuki service manual lists three different grades of bolts used: no markings on the head, a "4", and a "7". I think the 7's are 10.9 and the 4's are 8.8.

      10.9 is similar to grade 8, and 8.8 is similar to grade 5. The chassis bolts Suzuki used are mostly marked with a 7, so I'd use the appropriate 10.9 bolts.
