650kat starter cover (which model fits)

Hi all, my 650kat came without a starter cover, does anyone know which (if any) covers fit from which models? It has a 3 bolt fixing, not 2 bolt as all i've seen on ebay recently.

    Thanks in advance......

Not sure what the difference between the 650 kat cover and the more familiar g or gl model covers. My g has 3 holes. I wonder if one was painted differently, I seem to remember the kat motor was black. I painted mine black since the original paint had started to flake and rust was forming.

Alphasports shows a different part number in their microfiche, maybe there is some difference. Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply Waterman, at least i know the g series ones are 3 holes too then. I may as well have a stab at one of those if i see one come up, colour is not an issue as the whole crankcase, cylinders and head will be blacked with polished outers anyway.

Thanks again for the info, much appreciated

Hey Yaddy, I am pretty sure I got an extra cover if ya need one. It is for a 650G like mine but I am pretty sure there is not a difference. I think the only difference is the oil pan. The starter cover is stamped steel, not alum and has 3 bolt holes.

          Heres a pic

if my engine looks anywhere near as nice as that when it's rebuilt, i'll be well chuffed! What type of engine coating is that btw?

Deffo want the cover if you have one, what you want for it?

Thanks for that Basscliff but i must admit, i have been a "sleeper" on these forums for well over a year now and have visited and borrowed, ahem.... from your site on many an occasion. Nice to be able to thank you in person for the info i've already had though so here goes, thank you for the information i've had .
My 650 Kat won't be to everyones taste, it's a cafe racer project. Bought off eBay from some dude who (for whatever reason) hacksawed the rear section of the frame off! The hope is that it will be back on the road for this years Bulldog bash, if it doesnt make it, guess i'll have to go on the 79 GS1000E instead, unless the wifes stopping at home this year then it'll be the R1. These forums played a huge role in the build of the thou a year and a bit back, a wealth of info you simply can't buy. Hope the 650 goes as smoothly.

Check it out so far, a long way to go yet but progress is a fair bit further on than the blog, you know how it is...ahem...........
This is my Suzuki GS650 Katana. I bought it off eBay as a running project. Over the next few months i will be attempting to get the bike ready for a trip to the 2009 Bulldog Bash.
