    Carburetors Swap?

    Hello All,

    Quick question:
Are all the carburetors from any 1981 GS 650 (G/GL/GLZ/etc...) the same?
Can they be swapped from one bike to another (from GLZ for example to a G of the same year)

    Thanks again for your input.

    Pretty much so, yes.

Starting in 1980, all bikes from 550 to 850 had the same BS32 carbs, only the jetting was different.

There were also possible jetting differences from one country to another, so keep your eye on that, too.

The jetting for the "G" models will be the same, but the chain drive "E" models had different jetting. A different air box setup was the reason for this I think.

          Cool.

So from a 650 GLZ to a 650G, beside cleaning it shouldn't need anything else?
Should pretty much be plug and play or plug and pray?

Should be a simple "clean, plug, play" operation.

By the way, the "GLZ" just says that it's an '82 GL.
If this is for the "G" in your signature, it's a "GX".

If the carbs are from a Canadian bike then the carbs will be jetted richer, Ted

                Hey Steve:

What does the Z stand for? Mine is a GS650EZ. Is the Z for the year 1982?

                  Correct. 'Z' designates the year 1982. Mine is a 650 GZ .
