Engine Stand Attachment

Hi All,

Just bolted up the Engine Stand mounting plate to my GS1000 engine,
using three 3/8" threaded rods. (Similar to the 10mm engine bolts)
The rods are thru the engine mounts and 'nutted' on both sides of the engine and the mounting plate arms.

Is this enough to support this engine on the stand?

3/8 allthread is pretty flexible stuff! I would try to use stock motor mount bolts. Ray.

Yes, the 3/8" (0.375") seems flexy.

The 10mm (0.394") motor mount bolts are not long enough, by far.


I suppose I should check if 7/16" would fit thru the motor.

I would NOT trust that setup. Maybe if you were just working on the lower end

Personally, I like working on the bench. These motors are pretty small and easy to move about, and the bench is nice and sturdy. I guess it's whatever trips your trigger.

The 3/8" looked too lite to me.
Unless somebody said; "Been there, done that, it worked fine." , I was doing something else.

I'll look into 7/16" rod.
I really like the movable aspect of the stand,
and once the engine was put on the bench,
I wouldn't be able to work anything else there.
