A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have a question.I have a 78 GS1000 with kerker 4 into 1 headers, dyna ignition,K&N jets and filter.I ride the bike about 2 to 3 days and keep burning plugs. If my baffle is gone from my kerker would this cause early breakdown of the plugs? It runs good then the plugs look wet and dont spark no more.Thanks....

Live life on 2 wheels or don't live at all......

Are they wet with gas or Oil ? It may be running too rich and fouling the plugs

when they die they are wet....they throw very little spark....

You have to go back and check things. Check the air filters, if they have too much oil on them it will make it run rich, Check the ign timing, Check the carbs and see what jets are in the carb Stock jet is #95 so you should have #110-115s thats just a guess. Also I would consider replacing the coils if they are original 78 model would have 5 ohm coils stock Dyna works best with 3 ohm coils Haven't tried it but coils from late model GSXR 600 are said to work

When you say the plugs are wet, please identify if they are wet with gasoline or oil.

It's pretty easy to tell...just remove a plug and run your finger across it.

Even easier....take it out and let it sit for a minute or two. Gasoline will evaporate...oil won't.

Don't judge the quality of the spark when using a wet plug. Some (or all) of the electricity will track the fluid, instead of arcing the gap. This can give the appearance of a weak spark, when it is actually very good.

They are wet with fuel.If i put a new set in and take it on the highway they burn longer. If i just cruise it in the city is when they look black and die...

I've been having the same exact issue for a long time, primarily with #1. I didn't care too much, but now it's gotten so frequent that it starts loading up after just a few miles in the city and I have to take it out and slap the snot out of it until it clears it's. About every third day, it just not firing and I change that plug. Off to the carb doctor on Monday morning.

If it is only one cylinder you could be looking at a compression problem in that cylinder that is what it sounds like if in fact it is only one cylinder, I have already been there the problem cylinder was running at 90 and the others were all at 120 had to rebuild the upper end. something to think about
