any advice on a rebuild?

new to suzukis (honda man) but just picked up a 55t and was starting a top-end rebuild, i ordered a clymer manual but was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge they'd like to pass on to a 4-banger newb. thanks yall -sam also i rememberd my rear calliper is completely stuck, is that a common issue or how do i resolve it?

Hi Mr. Noxi,

You'll need a caliper rebuilt kit for that stuck part. Soak it in PB Blaster or your favorite parts loosening liquid. Make sure the cylinder and piston is not scored or mangled. Might as well get a rebuild kit and do the master cylinder too. Same for the front.

It sounds as if you may need a pretty extensive refresh; change all fluids and filters, new brake pads, new brake lines, new tires, check/lube bearings, clean/rebuild carbs, check/clean electrical system, etc. Check out the "Top 10 Common Issues" in the mega-welcome. actually to my surprise when i picked up the bike the only thing that didnt need replacing were the tires and those are the only things i cant do on my own. and i would show ya'll a picture of suzy be shes kinda torn down to the frame

Where are you on this big blue planet ? Maybe someone knows of a good place to get your tires changed that's close to you.

And you can stilll take pics, we're used to seeing frames.....

How old are your tires? Do you know how to read your tires? If they are 5 years old, I would think about replacing them anyway, no matter how much tread they have. Click below for the tire information I've collected.

well the bike hasnt been run in a while and the front is a little cracked but the rear is in perfect condition with 6mm or so of tread

Depth of tread is only one factory in tire usability. Check for BassCliff's thread on "how old are my tires", and ditch them if they are more than 10 years old for sure...most people will tell you 5 years.

Regarding changing tires, it's easy once you get a few tire irons and develop a system. I've been doing all my own tire changes for years.
