    79 850 and 79 750 How much difference?

    Specific Question:

Besides the obivious difference in CC's are the engines basically the same?
    Would the heads swap?
Are the VM racks of carbs the same or different sizes.
Bike mentioned are an 850G and a 750L, both 79.

    Thank you,

    Jim

Heads and carbs are the same although I'm not positive about the carb jetting. The engines are quite different once you get below the cylinder for obvious reasons.

      Hi,

I've read a couple of contemporary magazine articles that stated the 850 engine was a punched out 750 using cams from the 1000, all 8-valve motors, of course.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

All true, the stock jetting is the same as well.
