Have a couple of minor issues with 700e

Finally got it painted and back together today and went for a ride.

I replaced the rear sprocket with new, but the marks on the swing arm don't line up with anything when there are no markes on the axle. So how do I properly align the rear wheel?

After a quick ride about a mile I noticed that the chain definetly tightened up so I went back to loosen it a bit. How much play should there be? I was thinking 3/4" - 1" of up and down play.

Also, when I changed the oil the oil plug wont tighten down all the way now, and when I took it out there was a couple of threads on the plug from the pan threads. Thats not good. Can I try and run a tap up there to cut new or can I put a O-Ring on the plug to get it to seal. It doesn't leak much, after riding I shut it down and it will drip a 4-5" puddle then stop.

Auto parts stores sell self threading oversized drain plugs. This has been discussed many times here and there are lots of people with success stories.

To align the wheels, use a string running parallel to the wheels. When doing this I use two jack stands. Details in the factory manual.

I should have thought of the self tapping oversized plugs. Thanks. This is my 1st bike and I still wonder what I can and can't do. It's a little different than cars and trucks like I'm used to.

What do I line the marks up with? It doesn't make sense to me that they would put marks on the swing arm but not the axle or the adjuster.

The marks are on the chain adjusters, one on each side of the adjuster so it doesn't matter if you get the adjusters on the wrong side of the bike. Look on the edges of the adjuster just above and below the axle. There are little notches cut into them.

Oh yeah I have adjusters. I must have overlooked the mark on the adjuster. So in the pic of the adjuster the notch that you can see on the top above the axle is also on the bottom, because I didn't see those on my adjusters.

sometimes people install them wrong; put the notches in facing the wheel where they can't be seen. This is a common problem after someone changes a tire.

yup. That's prolly what it is. When I changed my sprocket I didn't even look and that was the 1st time I had the wheel off.
