    Safety wire on the clip sounds like a good suggestion. I've used safety wire in place of the clip before and never had any problems.

      Thanks for the reply guys. I have ordered an X "O" ring 530 chain, 120 links. I need only 108 links.
      What type of wire is the safety wire made from. Where can it be obtained from? Do auto accessory shops sell that kind of thing.
