Missing dowel!

Hi again, all,

Is it absolutely necessary to have all of the dowels in place between the block and head? Unless I dropped one and didn't hear it, I don't seem to have all of them (at least one bolt passage doesn't have a dowel).

The ones between the cases and the block are fine, it's just the head dowels I'm talking about.

yep you need them all, they keep thing lined up. without them the chances of a oil leak or worse climb greatly.

As was stated you need them all. The questioin is - where did you drop it. If it's somehwere in your motor, you're probably not going to like the results. My suggestion is to find it.

i had a small block chevy missing a dowel for the head and i bolted it up and everything was fine i personally wouldnt think it could be out of line with all the bolts that hold the head on. but yah it would be a good thing to put back in.
