Repaced my superbike bars with daytona bars..yaa!

EDIT: That would be "replace" not "repace" whatever that means...LOL

    And I like it!!

My bike came with drag bars, which looked good, but didn't suit me.
So after some searching here, I went with the superbike bars...which were OK.
But it never felt quite right...maybe its that I'm not very tall, 5' 7" or so, or that I have an after market seat that puts me a little down and back over stock...

So I ordered up some daytona bars and just got back from a test drive....much nicer...
I still have to tweak them and the controls a bit, but I was more comfortable and felt I had better control.

    Later,

And once again I mispell a word in my topic title and can't change it....
    GRRRRRRRRRRR

What kind of grips you running with there? Those look pretty nice.

After flopping back and forth on Daytona vs superbike a few times myself, I ended up going with the Daytona bend. I hope I like them as much as you do.

          Nice grips...got them here:

Pro Grip 719 RVGS Open End Gel Grip

I had the Sunline Grand Touring Grips that a lot of people like, but they didn't work for me.

            Bob,

I think the Daytona bars have a bit more pullback as well. I think you'll love the Pro-Grip 719s. I have run them on the GS for several years and have two more sets waiting to be installed on the Kat and VFR. They are very sticky, dampen vibration, and are just a bit thicker than most grips which seems to fit me well.

            Thanks,
            Joe

Yah, they do...I just went out and matched them up.

And yes, those are great grips...
I have another set waiting for the 750 if I ever get it done.

Do these fit on 1-inch bars or on 7/8s?
                Thanks!

I use and like those grips as well. The only thing is they don't last very long, for me any way. Thats the trade off for being nice soft and sticky, kinda like tires I guess.
I think I might try the Daytona bend. I like the Super Bike bars on my 750 but have been curious.
I run MSR DOMINATOR YZ bend bars on the 1100. They are Aluminum.
I like them alot. I cut them down 1" per side. Still plenty of leverage and control.

When you say "daytona bars" are you talking about Bikemaster's Daytona bend or is there another manufacturer that also makes that style? I have a pair of Bikemaster Superbike bars on my GS1000 that I'm getting rid of because they don't fit me very well. The superbike bend bars don't have the grooves in the center like the OEM bars do that keep them from twisting forward and back in the clamps. I'm just curious if another manufacturer makes a bars with a daytona bend and the grooves in the center. Thanks.

Yes, Bikemaster's Daytona bend...no grooves, sorry.
I've never had a problem with the bars twisting though...

I went from stock, to daytona to superbike.....on my 650

The superbike bars feel perfect. I'm 6'0 so the lean is relative.
