I would try the investment angle on her. Hey, its gotta be better than the stock market. Im not even gonna try it with my wife. She sees MCs as a big waste of time.

It is sometimes better to ask forgiveness than permission. This sounds like one of those times. Now go get those bikes.

I was sure you were talking about my bike, but then noticed you forgot starter, clutch, tires, oil leaks (or was that you meant by "other stuff")

                  You have that right, Brian!

OK...so I got it past the wife and am planning to look at them tonight...
One has current title transfer, one doesn't. Now, depending on what I find, what would be the suggested follow-through, for both parties?

                  1. pay all up front and wait for title to show up?
                  2. pay 3/4 up front and wait for title.
                  3. your suggestion...

If the 1100 has a title load and go. Finance the rehabilitation of the 1100 with sales of parts off the 650, less what you keep as spares for your own ride.

I'd have been there at lunch if it was me.

Thats no place I wanted to be stranded with the wife or grandkids on board with a barge barreling down on us. The bike is getting to be the same way. I dont have the confidence in a near 30 year old Bike like I would in a new one. I dont have the resource for a new bike so the old one will have to do. Even tho I think its capable Im just not going to jump on it and go cross country.

I think Sean is totally justified in cutting his losses and frustration and dumping his bike for a newer model. Just keep in mind a newer bike is going to need maintenance just like the old one.

I think Dave8338 is closer than anyone to these bikes. There is another guy out there but I cant think of his name. Regardless, having someone go look at it probably wont do much for you.
Dave, I can't believe you would consider selling your E.

On a separate note, I actually talked one of my old high school buddies out of buying an old CB750. He has absolutely no mechanical knowledge whatsoever and no place to turn wrenches on it with his kitchen household pliers.

I told him mosey on down to his local Suzi dealership and pick up a 07-08 new GS500F for a starter bike. All it takes is good credit and easy monthly payments.
