    o rings!

    i am doing intake boot to cylinder head o rings this weekend on my 78 gs550e. anything i should pay close attention too? I am a car mechanic but no motorcycle mechanic. let me know!

    If they are still mounted with phillips head bolts you're in for a treat. Have an impact driver handy and make sure the bits you use fit the bolt right. Try some PB Blaster or other penetrant and tap the heads of the bolts a couple of times with a hammer to hopefully break them loose a little. If that's what you have replace them with hex heads or socket caps. Use a little anti-sieze compound on the new bolts when remounting the boots.

      make sure you use an impact driver to remove those screws. They are a pain in the rear. If possible you should replace them with allen head bolts. some one else will have the link where to get some right handy

        For ordering information on SS cap screws to replace the stock philips. Order there or take the info to a local hardware store that might carry them.

        My original screws came out with very little fuss using a Craftsman impact driver and the included philips #3 bit. I didn't even have to impact it - that bit just seems to have a lot more grab to it than most #3 drivers/bits.
