    Which Exhasts Fit 1980 GS-1000G???

    Hi everyone.

I need some new mufflers. I just want to replace the stock ones. I'm not interested in getting a 4-1 or anything because I don't want to worry about messing with jetting.

So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me which years and models of exhausts would match up to my bike??

Like, would the exhaust off of an 1100g fit?? Or what about an 850g??

Any help would be great...then I can know what to post that I'm looking for in the "Parts Wanted" section!!!

    Thanks!!
    Jeff

750 & 850 exhausts are smaller dia... you might get away with an 850g one though but it might be a bit more restrictive. I think it will physically fit (this is an educated guess though!)

1000E exhausts fit.. of a fashion. You need a spacer plate at the back end & the centre stand will always be held about 1/2" off it's stop (although it did stay up alright).

If your down pipes are ok you could probably use some aftermarket mufflers from the likes of JC whitney clamped or welded to the original.....

If you used a MAC 4:2 or MAC 4:1 it's unlikely you'd need to rejet. You probably wouldn't have to even with a V&H as long as you kept the stock airbox & filter...

MAC makes a 4:2?? I haven't seen that one yet...
